What is Hemp/CBD?

Hemp, or industrial hemp, is a strain of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for the industrial uses of its derived products. It is one of the fastest growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 10,000 years ago.

The Hemp Farming Act of 2018 was a proposed law to remove hemp (defined as cannabis with less than 0.3% THC) from Schedule I controlled substances and making it an ordinary agricultural commodity. It's provisions were incorporated in the 2018 United States farm bill that became law on December 20, 2018.

CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol, one of the many cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, found in marijuana and hemp. You're probably already familiar with THC, which is another compound found in the cannabis plant. But unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive.

Farming Hemp for CBD is becoming a valuable cash crop, given the growing research on the health benefits of CBD oil and other derived products for human and pet consumption.

WOrld's Most Useful Plant

No other natural resource offers the potential of hemp.  Cannabis Sativa, the Latin name for Hemp means "the useful plant". For thousands of years, humans have used parts of the hemp plant for food, textiles, paper, fabric, and fuel oil. The chart below highlights these uses in an easy to understand diagram.
